Wow, Kay, thats marvelous! I wish I had just a little bit of that here. It seems the rebloom flowers are just as nice or better than the first blooms.

Thank you, Sherry. I found another one that was already blooming and two more putting up scapes today plus I think there were already three more yet to bloom. I have always had a lot of rebloom, but this is unprecedented. And so many start reblooming then add one or two or more scapes when they are done, Unreal.

Amazing rebloom for you this year! They are all beautiful, especially that flower on Barbara Mandrell! This past Thursday was my first day without a daylily bloom since May 17. I have a couple still blooming and three more with rebloom scapes on the way.

Lots of rebloom still going on here. I found another scape that I cut off since with cooler weather now it will probably not bloom anyway. Many seem to be from newer plants and I want them to put their energy into surviving now, LOL. I don't know if it works that way, but giving it a try. Every fan on Martin Blondell put up a scape, but I only left the first one. It is an evergreen so I don't trust it although it made it through last winter better than others.

Thank you all for looking and commenting. I was really pleased with Barbara Mandrell. Debra, The blooms have been perfect for once, and, as I said the scape was well above foliage, 28 inches. Nan, Primal Scream has never rebloomed here before here before either. Indigo Edge did not bloom this year, so I moved it again to a better place and put down cardboard and mulch and it has not sent up a scape! Both Hot Buttered Rum and Extremem Tangerine rebloomed and HBR but up two scapes with ET just one but with so many buds, they bloomed for a very long time. Today I saw that Veto has put up a late rebloom scape although it rebloomed much earlier and we haven't had rain in weeks.

"Perfect for once"--that seems to sum up Barbara Mandrell. Here, it struggled; rather tender. And when it did bloom, the blooms were often flawed. I did see a report from someone in Alabama a year or two ago, noting how well it had done.

Still lovely blooms!! Interesting as I looked at these that Barbara Mandrell, Black Panther and Carrick Weldon did not send up a scape this year. Primal Scream was reblooming until the deer herd began homesteading. I don’t know if mine would have continued as yours but these are just lovely!!!

I imagine you would have had even more since you had more rains than we did. This is Black Panthers first year and it has been great. I hate when something doesn't send up blooms. Ledgewood's Jungle Music is leaving since it is a very poor bloomer here, and it did not bloom this year. Maybe you should get a dog. As I told you, I have decided that these dogs that run through the neighborhood (hunting cat food here) are probably the reason that deer do not bother me. I won't fuss anymore about it.

Mantis, it is very annoying when they do not do well, no argument there.

It's interesting that Black Panther bloomed for Kay but did not bloom for Kate. I think both of you got that one from me last fall. It was usually a good rebloomer when I grew it.

I don't understand the difference. We both have cardboard and mulch, and I know we both put Osmocote fertilizer in spring and I think we both put out fertilizer in fall. So not differences there and I think we both pot them before we plant. So, who knows why they act like they do. Kate had more rain than I did but daylilies love rain. I did have one that I got from you that did not bloom.

I don’t think there is any accounting for why so many did not bloom. As Kay said, our care routine is the same. I am slightly further north and perhaps that made the difference with the arctic blast temps. I had so many that did not send up a single scape.

And next year yours may well be showing off and mine jsut rest with tongues out if they had one.

Black Panther, Thomas Tew, Carrick Wildon--all good performers in a broad band north and south. I doubt whether Kay had the low March temps that affected so many things farther north.

Mantis, oh yes, I had the five days of freezes in March that killed off the fifteen scapes that were almost ready to open Fernstone, and turned quite a few plants into mush. It was awful. But the season still started early (April16th) and it warmed up very quickly and became intensely hot all too soon, as usual,

Most of the mushes recovered to a degree and poor Fernstone put up one scape then a late rebloom scape. We are still in the 90s but will have a break fora few days then back again to the 90s per the forecast. Typical. It is usually at least med October before we get any cool weather to speak of but any decrease in the heat is nice. . The lilies love the heat and hate the cold. I think there are only a half dozen or so still to bloom or to rebloom. We haven't had the rains, and I have turned the sprinkler on many times which helps where it used.

Mantis, how is your shoulder? Did you ever have surgery to repair the rotator cuff?

I did not have surgery. Physical therapy (including ultrasound at every session) has greatly reduced discomfort.
