Interesting looking light - I assume from the plan posted that you‘re getting the large 5 light size. I looked up the light & they aren’t shown in any example settings. My question would be whether these are intended for bathroom mirror lighting? My reply to your question is that I’d get 4 lights because I have never ever been in a situation where I thought there was too much light around the vanity mirrors. Too much shadow & too little light, yes. Think hotel bath lighting…. I think the details on these sconces are that they are dimmable lights too which is what makes me wonder about a bathroom vanity application.

We originally wanted to use these as stairwell sconces but ended up with another fixture, so we thought of repurposing these for the master bath. The center two sconces in the 4 light option would be about 10-12” apart so wanted to make sure it’s not too crowded. But yeah we plan to have dimmers in case they are too bright together.

Can you use those in a bathroom? I don't see that they're damp/wet-rated. They're neat, but I would find another place for them.

I would do 3 and have done that in my own bathrooms.

Some lighting collections will sell a double armed sconce and that is another option for the one in the center, with singles on the outside.

You need a much wider vanity to consider going with 4 sconces.

BPMBA - it says dry location. However it is in a large master and on side wall next to sinks. Shower enclosure is opposite it but has a good 7ft distance from wall/fixture to the shower enclosure. From what I am reading, most literature says it’s generally fine to use dry rated fixtures in bathrooms…

JAN - yes we have another 3 recessed lights and one over standing tub in the vicinity. We like the 3 better too but read somewhere that ideal distance between fixtures is 36-40” … we will be more like 48”. Not sure if that is a concern or not.

Your 2 options show different size mirrors but regardless I agree with Jan that ”four is a crowd”. I have a similar set up as yours except that my vanity is 6” shorter. My mirrors are 24” wide and I used 3 sconces. I also have recessed lights in the ceiling. This is my hall bath but when I use it, I usually turn on both sconces and the recessed lights and i dont notice any weird shadows.

Just to help you visualize here is my set up.

I'd say forget the two small mirrors; replace them with a wider, more functional mirror that'll give you a better view of yourself and the room. Then go with THREE pendant lights, but put them on a dimmer so you control how much light you have at any given time.

Badgergal, what’s the distance between your sconces from center to center? Your picture is very helpful to visualize. And beautiful and classy setup.

It truly matters not what anyone else has between their sconces.

This is your bath, ( below ) correct? Your vanity, your exact inches , your sink centers with mirrors etc. In bath math for you? That is 47 3/4 inches separation between two sconces, It is fine and you are worrying on this.........NEEDLESSLY: )

The center to center distance between my scones is 42”

The distance between sconces is driven by sink centers, the vanity design overall.. A mounting space that is APPROPRIATE and lovely for your design will have no effect on quality of light, when standing in front of a mirror. You do not have room for four sconces.
