Start lighting layouts after the layout is finalized.

Don't put a recessed light directly in front of a range hood that would reflect the light into your eyes.

Clearly…I wouldn’t ever take this to the electrician unless the kitchen layout was set. Looking for generic “not enough” or “horribly wrong” bc of walkway or (as previous rely) “not in front vent hood”…just trying to get an idea

Not enough over your countertops--especially over the working side of the island. And not quite positioned correctly. Lights should be over the outer portion of the countertop, not over the floor. Agree with wdccruise's point. We ended up with one light overlapping a bit with the hood. The glare is annoying.

You can look for a hood with lighting included. For the 'green' recessed lights if you place them 6 inches in from the counter edge, including the island, you won't get a shadow from your body. I'd do two for the left counter space offset from either side of where you stand. Three for the island. Three over the sink-dw run and one over the center of the counter to the right of the range. Move the lights forward over the counter to the left of the frig. Add one over the counter to the right of the wall ovens. These are all work zone lighting. 450 lumens at the counter is the minimum recommendation. Narrow flood led bulbs can work. 4" cans are the norm.

Like others have stated, no designer would layout lights before the layout was finalized
