uploading issues

So, I think the problems with uploading pics is because I have to use a different email address for here cos I was banned with my old one...but everything else I do is still being done under the banned old email...which gives my PC a hard time. My F-in-L is helping me to navigate the horrible issues involving forgotten passwords, dodgy emails. Not terribly hopeful cos we have been faffing around for over an hour. Might have to set up new account, new emails the whole whole show.

OK, we have set my phone up for an old email address (unknown to HOUZZ) so I can take a pic on the phone (which doesn't alert HOUZZ to banned returnee), send the email to my chromebook, then send it from there to you guys (Have had to write it all down cos it involves stuff like 'hovering' 'right clicking' and other arcane things. Course, once he has gone back to Ireland, I might be at sea again...but at least I know THERE IS A WAY.

It is grey and rainily dull here...or I would be out taking pics right now. Soon as the sun shows itself again, I will get myself to the allotment and hopefully click away.

Nice to hear you have worked things out with houzz. They’re really difficult to deal with at times. I have to do posts via the old gardenweb link because for some reason when I try to post in houzz, I have two problems. I either can’t access all my photos (for whatever reason) and whether I am able to access a photo or take one, when I go to the “next” to select the forum I want, I cannot find the forum. For instance, I can’t find the hosta forum even with a search. This is why I sometimes post in perennials. I can find that forum, but not the hosta forum. I wish I knew what was up with that.

    Your pots look wonderful!

Floral told me to send photos to myself in an email...and I didn't have the heart to tell her I hadn't a scooby how to go about it. I basically use my phone to phone people and check the weather forecast. Hope the sun is shining so I can take a photo of the alstroemerias,

Re vigour and invasive behaviour. I have worked in gardens with the basic alstroemeria auriantica...which was very thuggish - spreading mostly by enthusiastic rhizomes, but the ligtu hybrids and various named varieties seem to be considerably more restrained...even a bit fussy and demanding. In a container, I would probably look for the shorter stemmed 'Princess' varieties,.

This Houzz functionality is miserable. For about a week I’ve been having problems when I click on site from my iPad which is what I mostly use. My desktop MAC doesn’t have the issues so I know it’s not an Apple issue. Sometimes I can see everything - the posts from my list of discussion topics all the way through being able to post or comment on a post. A couple hours later I check in & I can see everything but cannot post a comment. Or, I can see the original post & when I open the post I see that 22 replies have been added but none of those posts are shown. Or, sometimes I see the original post but not the pics posted with the text. And a couple of times when I clicked in to Houzz, instead of the usual discussion page listing the posts for my selected topics, all that comes up is lists of hyperlinks for each topic but no content or graphics. Checking back later on, all is well again. Am I the only one with this pretty recent issue?

And, rosaprimula, you’ve mentioned being banned before so seems all your old familiar friends here know the story. I cannot imagine a scenario that caused that for you! I love reading your posts! Your style of writing, humor and great sense of the ridiculous makes for fun reading! And I’ve picked up a few pointers on gardening from you. The only other poster I’ve read about being banned was a ”Sophie”. She seemed very popular and was very much missed. I had the sense that it was her outspoken style of giving advice that might’ve caused her banishment. I saw those posts about ”Bring back Sophie” when I first became a Houzz discussion user a couple years ago. I wasn’t ever on GW though I had heard of it.

You should have said! We might have worked out a solution for you.

I'm the opposite. I rarely use my phone for calls but I use it constantly as an on the go computer and camera. My actual camera has been in a drawer for several years because camera phones are so amazing these days.

Oh happy day! Lovely seeing parts of your garden rp! It is a pity the process of posting is convoluted but it will quickly become much easier after doing a few times. I hope the sun comes out and we get allotment pics as well. I recognized your reincarnation here immediately but did not want to draw attention to it.

O cheers for all the lovely posts and encouragement...I was beginning to think you were entertaining thoughts that I might be a complete fantasist with NO GARDENS AT ALL. Yep, I agree that phone cameras are the nuts...I have to downsize the pics because HOUZZ won't accept the higher pixel count and even then, the quality is respectable. And this is from a second hand phone - someone else's leftovers from chasing the next best thing (in tech).

Grief, HOUZZ really is a hopeless site isn't it? I wonder how all the 'pros' on here don't get totally ticked off with the functionality. After the mass exodus to Facebook, there were so few of us left here, we are primed to put up with anything.. I joined up back in the late 90s I think - I still recall being so amazed that I could post a query (about bulbs shooting before Xmas) and get a helpful answer back. Gardenweb was my first experience with bulletin boards so I was horrified to get a ban (although it was my own fault - I really should have kept a lid on sweary sarcasm...but it was on Hot Topics).

Many of us have been posting for over 2 decades...longer than a lot of marriages so yes, the relationships I have on here are important to me. I wish it was easier to search old posts - so many of us have been on this long journey, with numerous stops, detours and side-trips, complete about turns, alliances changed, old loves discarded and new ones revealed. A picaresque trip with no end in sight, just another turning in the road.

I am transferring pots from home to the allotment, so the garden is a tip...filthy paths and tipped over pots etc. Nothing laudable to post at all...especially after a couple of savage thunderstorms on late summer plants (now largely horizontal and battered). I am taking the phone to allotment, after lunch so if the sun shines.... I do need the practice to try to fix the order of actions in my head.
