dry roots on amaryllis bulbs.

I rested a number of amaryllis bulbs. We live in Arizona and I could have left them alone but we were having a lot of work done in the yard. The bulbs are firm but the roots are dry. I put them in soil

and was going to water them but wonder whether I shold take them out and soak them in water first.

Does anyone know?
