Does your HOA have any restrictions about what you can or cannot plant and height? Sorry I don't know enough about your local climate and potential water restrictions to make specific plant suggestions.

Wondering if you could run a horizontal fence along the back of the cement pad that spans the width of both patio and pool, maybe do in two sections so there's an opening in the middle somewhat and stain it the same color as the wood on the patio. Where I live you need a fence around a pool so do that first then see if you need much else maybe the fence could be more solid on that side since trees or bushes will still block the view . I have no idea where the pond is in relation to your home so maybe post a plan showing that . Where is the road where do you plan the walkway ? I need to see a whole plot plan and where the road is.
