I don't mind it. if your style was going to be rustic, industrial, modern farmhouse, it would work.

Don't do anything rash. Live with it, at least for awhile. Personally I like it like it is. You can change it later if you must.

Very odd for a new home to have that type of brick; typical for 80s to 90s. One hand leave it and live with it for a while (like others)on the other hand easy to change now you could have a pro spray paint it.

Fire place would look super cool painted black however. Especially with interior tiles.

Looks like pretty brick. The doorway headers are interesting. A beam-like fireplace mantel could mimic that element, unless you think it would be overkill.

I think the answer really depends on your furnishings and taste. Can you be more specific about what you like, any inspiration pics, what kinds of furniture will you have?

I think the brick is fascinating and beautiful. It adds so much interest and texture, I think painting it will only make it look like a used home, like you were trying to hide something out of date.

I really don't understand why you would paint the fireplace but leave all the rest of the brick -- ?? Makes me think you like the brick, and appreciate it as a unique feature, and if so, painting the fireplace is going to break up the cohesion of the design.

Hi, it really depends on what you plan to do with the space, and what you personal style is I personally love the look of it. I might help to find some inspirational pics of what you would like this space to look like and go from there. Bu I would lean towards leaving it the way that it is it ads personality to your home and with the right design and furniture it can look amazing.

I would suggest to not paint it, but also don’t make it a focal point if you don’t enjoy looking at it.

It looks like it’s wired for TV. You can cover that up with something (a mantel, art, or other coverup that will attract less attention). You can direct the TV viewing to a different part of the room.

I have a similar fireplace in my house, which matches the brick skirt on the exterior. The TV is across the room. The fireplace currently has no decoration, but I may add bookshelves on both sides. I am inspired by the exposed brick walls in NYC lofts with the adjacent white walls. When I considered putting the TV over the fireplace, I just stared at the fireplace for awhile and decided ”no”. This fireplace belongs in the background. (It is actually to the left of the sofa, not behind it.)

1) Is this a home you built and are wondering if you should keep the brick or paint it OR is this a home you bought for yourself?

2) Is the brick also on the outside of the home?

I actually like the brick feature, especially if it is repeated on the home's exterior. Right now, with no furniture, all you see is the brick. Once furniture is in, the brick will actually be a nice highlight.

Whether you are staging to sell or buying furniture for yourself, I would use furniture and accents that pick up the tones in the brick.

Sorry what the heck was all the brick for in this space ? Are those brick columns an actual part of the building or an add on . I do not think those are attractive and if this is new construction did yu plan this brick? I need a bit more info as to why brick if you wanted to paint it.

Work with it. It is unique to your house and if your furnishings complement the colors in it, your house will look amazing.

I think it’s great-looking brick, I wouldn’t even consider painting it.
