Looks like I can’t delete the post but the plans are to have a patio area. Barbecue wouldn’t be done out there. We have an area in the front yard for that. This would be a nice lounge area where we would have either a tv or pool table. All based on the footage.

Both a deck and a screened in porch are nice additions - the screened in porch can create a darkening effect in a room since it has a roof and can block natural light, but can be worth it if bugs are an issue sitting outside

Mosquitoes can be a issue at times. Depending on the season. But I saw someone in my neighbor with this set up.

You have such a blank slate to work with. Budget is really going to drive your decision. Do you know how to google "screen patio" and look at the images that pop up?

The nicest ones (in my humble opinion) match the style of the house/roof as much as possible. The bigger the better, since you have so much space out there.

I would then want some screening landscape (like a hedge, or large trees) to provide a little bit of privacy and yard-definition.

Yes I have googled screen patio and so many images have popped up. Just wondered if going for a deck style patio would be ideal for this. Still would like to have enough room for our dogs to run around. We’re installing a white vinyl fence. Our home sit on a 1/4 acre lot.

Well, my opinion is that if you want a TV out there, make it more like a part of the house in terms of flooring. By "deck" I think you mean, a wood deck. I'm not a pro, so I would be asking questions about tying the roof of the porch into the roof of the house, or how is it separated.... where will the TV go (against the wall of the house?), and how will it not get rusty?

Again, to me, it's about budget. I'd want it to be an extension of the house, but of course it would cost more.

10x10 way too small for a proper deck or patio Any comments or pics about this post are all answered here in comments DO NOT start another post. Usually ground level decks are not ideal they never dryout and some do not last long. I am not a big fan od covered patios since the cut interio light a lot. You have space for a huge outdoor patio area use it to get all the things you want . We have a deck where we have a cabinet that holds all the cushions in the winter but in the summer we put a TV in that cabinet so it serves 2 purposes and we just close the cabinet at night . I think maybe get some advice from a outdoor space designer to make this really work .Think about how a house is layed out that is IMO how tyou lay out outdoor spaces I have an outdoor kitchen next to that on one side I have a large space for dining on the other side of the kitchen I have the seating space it is 16 x16 just for seating . Really think about how this will function and what you have to have.
