OVEN HELP !!!!!!!!!

Appliance & Kitchen pros :

I need your oven feedback (Regular ovens AND Combi Steam ovens). ...

I'm doing a remodel where I want 1 regular oven + 1 combi steam oven on a builtin wall. I currently have an old electric range oven on the floor. I cannot decide between 24" ovens or 30" ovens.

I have the space for either 24" or 30", but I've come across some posts where folks say things actually cook better in 24" due to air flow (mixed opinions on that, however) , and that the internal capacity between the 24" and 30" is shockingly negligible. Just purchase a few different sheets and trays and you're good to go. Turkeys fit just fine. I also like the appearance of a 24" more. So as you can see, I'm kind of leaning toward 24" already.

BUT !!!!!!! I don't want to make my home difficult for resale if people out there see a 24" as inferior or "Euro apartmenty" ... And if I already have the space for 30" (and the prices are practically the same...) is bigger really better? Do things cook better with a 30" ? Am I silly for even considering 24" ???

I'm considering brands like Wolf, Miele, or Bosch.

Any feedback is welcome!!!!!

I don't know if this muddies the decision waters or not, but there may be something to the smaller oven/better performance school of thought. I have a GE Twin Flex, a 30 inch single oven split into a double oven. The larger convection oven is 2.8 cu ft, & the smaller non-convection oven is 2.2 cu ft. Both bake like a dream. They are well insulated, are quicker to heat up than my old 5 cu ft single ovens, & certainly much quicker to clean. I've baked cookies, pies, chiffon cakes, multiple pans of butter cakes, quick breads, biscuits, muffins, & cinnamon buns. Everything comes out beautifully. So I'm sold on smaller ovens.

I had a 32-year-old Thermador 24 inch wall oven years ago. Never had a problem with space. I'd just make some holiday foods before the holidays (pies, usually) & some foods the day of.

aziline I'm seeing more and more that people are prefering 24" ovens in regular sized kitchen. No major recipe limitations but major performance advantages.

I just went through this exercise. I decided to buy a 30" convection oven and a 24" combi-microwave oven.

Initially, I was going to buy a 30" convection oven and a 30" combi-microwave oven because I planned on stacking them on top of each other. (I've seen a picture of a 24" oven stacked on top of a 30" oven, and I did not like the look at all.) I wasn't really a fan of the whole double oven look though.

I also didn't like the look of the two ovens side by side. So I broke them apart into different areas of my planned kitchen. I am not much of a cook, so the 30" oven will hardly ever be used. The combi-microwave will get used a ton. So splitting them into different areas of the kitchen makes a lot of sense for how we live. The capacity of the 24" combi-microwave is the same at the capacity of the 30" combi-microwave. I don't have big pans/cookie sheets that I need to fit into an oven. So I didn't need to worry about those considerations when I decided.

Can you fit a regular half sheet pan in a 24" oven? I have a 27" oven with only a few inches of extra room, so doubting that you can. A smaller oven heats up faster but I need to be able to fit half sheet pans! 90% of my oven usage is roasting veggies in half sheet pans though. A 24" and a 30" could be best of both worlds.

We had a 24" oven. Never again! We cook turkeys and roasts rather than cookies and pies, and that 24" oven was very limiting on turkey size - and we are a household of two!

I have 27 inch, and It works fine, but, I would prefer the 30 inch, never a 24.
