Down Comforter recommendations needed

I need to replace our king size down comforter and am hoping to find one that isn't skimpy on size and is of good quality. Would love to hear where you have found yours and any other information that would be helpful in my search.

Not down, but I like mine from Garnet Hill.

Two years ago when we were without electricity for several days due to an ice storm I replaced my down comforter with one from costco. I was a bit hesitant because the price was low (just over $100 for queen) but Im satisfied with it.

    Wirecutter recommends it. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-comforter/

I'm fairly certain mine is from The Company Store. I've had it for quite some time (maybe 8 years?) and I still really like it. It's maybe losing some feathers or loft of the feathers on the ends so I've thought about replacing it. I think I went with the lightest warmth because my husband is always too warm.

I don't think The Company Store's quality is the same as it used to be. I've bought two down blankets, flannel sheets, and a percale duvet cover from them in the past five years and there have been issues with all of these items.

Me, too. Me, too. I’m shopping for an oversized white down blanket. The last one I bought was from Overstock. They still have it but in cream not white. Remember how if something were sold out on Overstock, you could asked to be notified when it was re-stocked? Now that BB&B has taken over that part of Overstock, the re-stocking feature is not longer available. BAH!

DD, Sister, and I all have the Costco down comforter and we are all happy with it.

I haven't tried their comforters but I absolutely love the down pillows I got fromWarm Things. Easily my favorite sleeping pillows!

Also, I just received an email noting 20% off comforters (no code required).

How could a bag of goose down cost $200-$300?? Oh....they're German and Hungarian geese, not common old Canada geese. :-D

I purchased one years ago from Company Store, at that time they sold some of their items as oversized in the king size. I don't know if they still do that or not but it is worth checking if that is important to you.

Pricey, but very good quality comforters, are on sale now at Cuddledown: https://www.cuddledown.com/ShopCategory.aspx?ID=127,3815

I have had cheap and expensive down products... the Warm Things pillows are SO well constructed, soft and do not poke or leak. I also love the guidance for stomach/back/side sleepers-- and as a side sleeper, the recommendations were on the mark! Trust me, not all products have the same quality-- and to me the price is returned by the quality. I am willing to invest on MY bed but my spare room has an A-z-n down comforter.

We have a Company Store super size comforter. Cuz someone is a cover hog.

lascatx, have you tried the European custom of each having their own cover? My DH has sleep issues so we've had separate beds for ages, but if we ever had to go back to sleeping together, I think I would try this as he isn't just a cover hog, but has to mummify himself in his blankets.

We live in the land of ice and snow and the last comforter I bought was for our lakehouse and I got it from Ikea. They have different warmth levels (I got the warmest) and, tbh, I like it more than any of the expensive ones I've bought.

In my bed, *I* am the cover hog-- i mummify and I need to scrunch some up and hold it to my face like a toddler with a "blankey"

I'm looking for a king size, too, because I'm suddenly having night sweats for no logical reason. My current comforter, which I love, is simply too hot.

Daisy, I'm thinking about one of the cooler ikea ones to get me through. My concern is the size, and whether it's a few inches too short.

Lisaam, thanks for the links. I may consider the down alternative listed, as I wash mine a lot, and the scent of wet down is... off-putting.

We have the oversized king down comforter from The Company Store also which I love b/c my husband always seemed to pull our old comforter way over to his side. It replaced, our previous Company Store comforter which was at 20 years old.

When I was buying our newest one, I could not decide what level of warmth to order. I called Customer Service and the rep was very helpful. I didn't get the lightest, nor the warmest (we use a quilt on top during colder months for added warmth when desired).

I don't think The Company Store still sells the oversized comforter but I could be wrong.
