My husband and I moved into a 113 year old house in May. I am slowly deciding on some additional decor items/furniture/art as I find things I like. I lean more toward traditional/transitional and don't mind some contemporary throw in here and there. The previous homeowners left the sofas, chairs, coffee and cocktail tables and the dark wood console in the formal living area. For starters, I have ordered a console table and some lamps for the area at the large bay window. I also have some art on the way for above the couch. My question or dilemma rather, I would like to have a couple of accent ottomans for extra seating. What shape? material? color? The sofas are more of a charcoal gray and the area rug is a mottled gray. I do have some navy/blue accents in the room. Should I go with navy leather? or a pop of another color? and what about placement? Under the window on either side of the new console or on either side of the wood console. Any advice on additional art or decor items? This room is a work in progress and I want it to be comfortable and welcoming. Thanks in advance!
