there are a multitude of issues with growing large shrubs in pots.. beyond minimum winter temp ... which is all zone is .... do you have any experience with growing shrubs in pots...

never forget.. the most important thing in the pot.. is the media.. not the plant or anything else ...

and how big is/are the pot/s ...

I grew a tree-form Hakuro Nishiki in a pot once, on my patio. It was lovely, but it needed CONSTANT water. I just couldn't keep up with it. And it was in a larger pot than recommended, at least at first. And since it was a tree form, it was top heavy. LOL more than once I had to move the tree off my car because it had fallen over onto it (the patio butts up against the driveway). Even worse when it was pouring out and I had to move it. Or worse yet (for my husband lol) was when it fell on the car just as I pulled in, and couldn't open my door because the willow was on top of me. Thank goodness for cell phones - I had to on more than one occasion call him to come pull it off my car so I could get out lol.

Anyway, my experience may be different than yours. You might have more time to water, or set up some kind of watering system; you might have bigger pots; or being a shrub form you may have an easier time with balancing the pots in their spots.
