Debra, Your Destined to See X Green Mystique seedling is my favorite of your yellows.

Coyote Moon is one of my favorite daylilies. The high bud count makes up for the smallish blooms. It has had instant rebloom here.

Dances with Giraffes is fairly new here but was the bud count queen this past season.

Faber Saber is a great performer, had a good last season here when others suffered a bit.

Mary Todd, a very reliable oldie. Performs well every season. It has been in my garden 27 years.

Simplicity in Motion is new here. I love the shape of the blooms.

Sweet Autumn Mist has a subtle peach on the Sepals. Bud count was lower last season.

Brocaded Gown isusually a good performer, it had low bud count last season. I do like the delicate looking blooms.

I don't have as many yellow as I do purples, pinks and reds but I appreciate their cheer. There's nothing like a good yellow to make the garden 'pop.

Kate is trying to recover from a bad bout with Covid! I am enjoying looking but energy levels beyond that are seriously lacking! Maybe by the end of the color series I will have the energy to post. But, oh yes, these yellows make me happy. (If only they could make me well!!)

Oh Kate, I hate to hear you've had a bad case of Covid. It took me several weeks to get back to a normal energy level after having it in September. Take it easy and post your pics when you feel better.

Tell us again about the hybridizer Lawler. You may have noted it before. Planet Claire is a good yellow, but was awful this year. Festive Jousting, a softer yellow, looks interesting. I know that Curt still breeds his yellow line, but no longer reds. Laughing at the Rain, I see, is a Mussar. (What do you think of it?) The Fallen Leaves pic looks just like what the hybridizer captured. Cynthia Dawn is a Douglas out of Thelma Douglas, but Thelma is notorious for crowding. How is Cynthia? Mystic Maze looks like a nice light yellow from Holmes.

Yellow isn't my favorite color, but I think it adds such a cheery note to any garden. My favorites posted here are Bill Norris, Laughing at the Rain and Yellow Monkey. We got rid of Buttered Popcorn several years ago and I think Bob has regretted it ever since.

Here are some yellows we enjoyed this season.

Bill Norris is such a reliable performer in our garden.

By the Golden Rule is new. We wanted it because of its reputation of being a good rebloomer. It bloomed three times in our garden this season. (sorry--The picture isn't great. There's a bud behind that top petal that is sticking up weirdly.)

I can't say that Come Down O Love Divine has been a good grower for us, but it does produce some amazing flowers.

Gaudy Gaudy has been in the garden for many years. It is shorter than we generally like, but the flowers are wonderful. It performed especially well this past summer.

There's nothing fancy about Golden Glitz, but it's a great grower that shows up when the rest of the garden is winding down.

I love the greenish color on Heavenly Green Canary.

Tidewater Elf is an amazing grower. It increases rapidly and produced lots of buds.

The flower on Vader's Choice is common to so many small diploids. What is interesting about it is how black the scapes are.

The last one is Yellow Cupcakes, a 4 inch double.

Nan - My favorite of your yellows is Come Down Oh Love Divine. I love the soft color and the ruffles. The Golden Glitz clump always catches my eye too!

Nan: I've always liked your Gaudy Gaudy and bought it a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it died within a month of potting it up for some reason, so I've yet to actually grow it. I like your Heavenly Green Canary as I've discovered that I really do like some of the greens out there......And thanks Sherry for more temptation with Autumn Minaret. That's a lot of flower power. However when I'm in the middle of moving pots it's easy to say NO-lol.............Here's a few of my yellows running from pale greeny yellow to a deeper almost gold color:

Avon Sunrise is by a hybridizer I am not familiar with. Sour Puss has warm hues with its green heart and peach shading. A Shooter, I see. Diploids in general I find need more dividing to maintain bloom quantity.

Siloam Amazing Grace is a nice clear yellow.

Mister Butters had a good year. In general, earlier plants performed better, when they could withstand an onslaught of earwigs. How many earwigs didn't I kill? Saul has slain his thousands, but I think I matched that (with little effect, as they were in the ten thousands).

Butter Cream was nice (but again plagued by earwigs).

Catherine Folker had a very good year. A large-flowered polychrome, but yellow and green are dominant. Always has instant rebloom. A ML. Good height. A Joiner evergreen that performs well, selected by Richard Norris years ago from a garden he visited.

Green Mystique has a precise and dainty edge. Seemed closer to five rather than six inches, perhaps because of the slight recurve. Gives a respectable performance most years--and that kind of performance this past year made one stand out.

Sarah Christine looked pretty good. A softer yellow, which is usually what I prefer.

Crintonic Mister Apollo may be a good performer.

As well as Green Icon. We shall see.

Mantis - I'm always drawn to photos of Green Icon. Mister Butters and Butter Cream look good too. I'm sorry you had to battle so many earwigs this year. Green Mystique did OK for me this time, but it was way down on buds and didn't rebloom like it usually does.

Green Icon is one that's been on my list for years now. Of course I need it from a rust free source so that has limited me, but the price has also remained too high for my budget. It must be a good breeder (or is thought of as such) for the price to stay as high as it has on a 2012 introduction. I look forward to hearing how it grows as a garden plant rather then a breeder from those that grow it............Maryl

Green Icon has been on my list for a couple of years. I will also look forward to future reports. Siloam Amazing Grace is a nice clear yellow. I am surprized that I have never grown it.

SEARS TOWER: Not as tall as in years past.

LUNAR EMPIRE: Very consistent performer. Every bloom looks like this. My only complaint is that I wish the flower was a little larger. It is 5.5" on a 30" scape. I wish it was 6+".

BUTTERCREAM: I just wish it was a little taller. It is a very good plant.

SILOAM MELVIN'S YELLOW: A very nice early season yellow.

POLY ESTHER: Another nice early season yellow. Throws a poly bloom every so often. Did not do it this year, or I just missed it.

Caribbean Whipped Cream: Always a gorgeous bloom. It is well budded and blooms for a long time. Registered height is 19 inches and mine reliably reaches 22"-24". It is registered as a Dormant yet hybridized in Florida. I think it likes the cold.

David - Terrific photo of Lunar Empire! I grew that one in a pot for several years but lost it last winter. I liked it so much that I bought it again with some other Derrows in the Spring. I got it in the ground this time and hope to see it blooming well next year.

David: I don't think I've seen or remember seeing Siloam's Melvin's Yellow. I like it, but then that's my problem with the color yellow in daylilies. I like too many of them......Maryl

MARYL: Here is the story behind SILOAM MELVIN'S YELLOW. One time I visited Bob Clary of Chester, Virginia, while I was still in MD. He had the largest collection of Siloam Daylilies as he had befriended Ms. Henry and he would frequently go to Siloam Springs AK and come home with many of her intros. He eventually became a test garden for her. I only went to his garden once, as it was a 2.5 hour trip down and became a 4 hour trip home thanks to the Capital Beltway. When I got to his garden, there were daylilies everywhere. He had a row of yellow daylilies that really stood out to me and it was SILOAM MELVIN'S YELLOW. He said that it was for sale and it came home with me. I also picked up CUSTARD CANDY. I no longer grow CC, but SMY is a keeper. Mr. Clary invited me into his house and pulled out his computer and showed many images of Siloam intros he photographed while in Siloam Springs. He spoke with me at length about Ms. Henry and how she selected intros. I think he took all of that time with me since I was 29 or 30 at the time and had recently gotten the daylily bug. That is a bug I don't mind having.

I do like "origin" stories on the "bugs" that bite us. I asked once in my early days why Henry's daylilies had fallen out of favor and was told that the times had changed and many of her daylilies were cvonsidered too short and the blooms too small for today's growers. However seeing the face of many of them I think surely there is still a place for them in the scheme of things. Personally, I wish I was still growing my collection instead of shrinking it so I could add more older daylilies........Maryl
