Avoid Tree transplant shock!

last modified: 2 years ago

Hello Community,

Zone: 10b (Los Angeles, CA)

We recently transplanted 10-12 feet Magnolia Champaca tree (also called Michelia Champaca/Himalayan Champaca) to different spot in ground. Our gardener did not do great job of saving the root while digging and I’m concerned about transplant shock. I pruned most of branches so tree can focus on root growth. Is there anything else I can do to improve survival odds and transplant shock? Will sugar water solution help?

Thank you.
