need ideas, bedding, decor, rug?

Too bland, like to work with the furniture as it is sturdy. Want it to be inviting and relaxing.

Is this for the Bed and Breakfast that you posted about in January of this year?

    You need a better rug

Is there room to position the bed on the wall opposite the door, and then move the chest to the right of the door? For bedding you can go lots of different ways. I'd use a duvet with a nice down comforter, so the bedding is not so flat. The floral print quilt is nice, but I'd change out the black pillow and blue quilt and pull in some other colors or textures similar to the last pic.

Agree the bed needs to be move so that it is not up against a wall. The bed is hard to make, and if more than one person sleeping, it is uncomfortable to be against the wall.

You need to show the entire room--all four walls. Please read this:

I suggest a lavender, mauve, mint green, pale blue, or apricot color scheme. I would start shopping for a comforter you like in the color palette you enjoy and that is pleasing to your senses. I prefer pastels but you may like pure, bold hues like blue and red or yellow. Choose an accent color from the comforter and paint the wood furniture in that color. Get a nice area rug for next to the bed. Possibly a nice treasure chest in front of the bed. You could place the bed in different spots to see what looks best. White sheers or some pretty curtains would look nice also.

I think Emily is on the right track, the bedclothes are all flat. I think you can leave the black off the bed and leave black for the frames and lamp base etc. The powder blue works well as a color but more texture is needed. Texture will bring more interest. If the room can be reorientated it will feel more interesting.

Looks like bed should move to the blank wall on the left. Please get rid of the fake ivy and the black accent pillow. You need more art on the walls. If this is a Airbnb that could be photos of local birds, or historical photos of the area. Currently the room is lacking texture.

Is this a guest room or your primary ? IMO the rug and the bedding do not work together but I need info

Here's an idea using a plaid to tie some of your existing bedding together. A stripe or subtle pattern could work as well. Add textured pillows to add interest.

A bed is such an important focal point in a room and I’d start there, ie: another location if possible and layered. Then rug’s placement can also then be improved.

It’s also important to have an overall vision for the room. Right now, you have non-related pieces/no direction and for ideas search iron bed in guest room on Pinterest and Houzz.

Have a jumping off point (but budget may dictate what to change). Having a look in mind is the biggest decision and bring home lots of things to test.

    1. Keeping rug, incorporate its feel with layered bedding and choose accessories to suit, for an overall inviting feel. (I would go this route to save money and with rug being neutral, it will be easy to coordinate around.)

    2. Changing/working with new rug.

    3. A lovely paint color can be an inspiration,

    4. If interested, I would paint the furniture.

    5. Head to Marshalls/Winners/Target and pick up different sizes and looks regarding pictures and test them out. Look for larger, groupings, or sets to create more interest and balance.

I will move the bed- thank you for the suggestion to work with the rug- I live in an isolated area, no shopping here, but I’m flying out tomorrow- why I was looking for suggestion. I was not happy with these two rooms. I really appreciate your suggestions

We are painting the rooms in the spring, the walls were painted prior to us purchasing the place, but we need to budget right now. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the extra photos. Some suggestions:

--If you keep the bed on that wall, then run lightweight curtains across the wall so you can center the bed and guests can easily get in and out of bed. The bed looks all squished now and isn't accessible.

--Center your armoire on the wall and remove the random art work that's there.

--Move the low shelf/trunk--whatever that is--to end of bed for guest luggage.

--Get a lovely patterned rug for under the bed.

--Make sure to have small night tables on both sides with reading lamps on them (or wall mounted to save on space).

--Others have offered beautiful suggestions for bedding, so go with one of those.

--One large piece of soothing art--a skyscape or landscape--should replace your random pieces and you can pull your bedding colors from the art.

--Look for a small, attractive desk and chair at a thrift shop, FB Marketplace, or Craigslist for guests to use their laptops, put on makeup, etc. If there's no space, then put such a desk to one side of the bed like this:

So hubby took this old dresser and made it into a desk and dresser. We took out the big chest ( too big) I have a large round mirror to go above it

Should I do a bed shirt?

Looking more welcoming by the day! Curtain wise, you could leave the cream ones in place and just add a narrow drop in a gray like the pillows to frame the cream.

I have now checked some of your posts and IMO aB&B bedroom needs to be comfortable , the bed needs access from both sides and I like every room to have a bit different decor . These rooms all seem very small to me can you post a to scale floor plan of the whole house . Do the plan on graph paper post here in jpeg format and in a comment DO NOT start anymore posts.
