I had a flood and the insurance people contracted with rehabbers to refinish my dining room table. They stained it much darker to cover water stains. It looked great, but the chairs were remained lighter wood. They did not look good together at all. However, we later inherited my parents light table and the chairs are perfect there. Looks like we bought them as a set.

Nice chair if you can find it in the same color wood as the table.

Darker legs would be more complementary. I thought these were modern, yet traditional.

Not only does the wood color clash with the dining table, but the styles don't work well together either. In the beautiful example above by Douglah Designs, the styles and the colors work together.

If you're going to change out the chairs, change out the table as well.
