I am currently remodeling my basement and im at the final step of refinishing the steps. the upstairs of my house is hardwood floors which leads to (currently) painted steps which then leads to grayish floor.

my initial goal was to replace all of the treads with hardwood to replicate what i have upstairs but im not sure if that would look good leading to the grey floor.

I am not sure i want to keep the steps painted, go with hardwood to match the top or make the steps darker to match the floor downstairs.

any suggestions on what other have done and how it turned out?
