You are fast! What about taking the two side vases down and maybe putting them together on the hearth instead.

I do think the art is a bit too large for the space. And I am not caring for the matching vases together. Maybe just one on the hearth and one somewhere else in the room.

Add screen flat n black. In corner add a palm in teal pot. Get a gray basket fill with firewood place in hearth. Paint mantel a blue gray.

May we see it AGAIN without the side pieces? I am fussy today, huh?

They are to small to be alone, try as centerpiece for dining. Add another item. Use odd numbers when accessorizing.

LOVE the pic there alone now. BUT yes, the vases are just too matchy matchy lined up under the mantle corbels.....I think that is why they did not work on the top, either.

I think the size of the piece makes it look very "important" LOL. I like the size and the art when the vases are removed. I would definately put a new bulb in the top spotlight above the mantel or put it on a dimmer. I bet if you used a folding screen in front of the fireplace and added some equipment it would balance the fireplace better with the piece.

Unfortunately I need my TV above my mantel but will send you a pic with the hardware in place. It really adds to the weight of the wall. I'm a rookie but know what I like!!

I've never thought to add the equipment for the fireplace. I think would definitely make it look more cozy. I still have no idea how to use it but hopefully having the equipment will make us try it out this winter.

I wouldn't use a black screen like I have on your white fireplace. Maybe chrome or brass, depending on the rest of your decor.

Are your mantle and the corbels wood? I can't tell but if so, I would paint them a granite grey color to blend with the color of the stone. As well as giving you a more modern look I think that would give you more options for displaying art and accessories.

Think about using more Pewter. A round Tray leaning against the stone will reflect light. If you like the idea then leave the vases and put two bunches of dried Purple Status or a single Hydrangea in each. On the hearth instead of the silver vases or a fire screen, find a section of old gate and stand at the opening. Not too big. The painting would do a great job hung on the far wall but invest in a frame. Paint the room in a smart medium Gray.

They are wood and stained a warm gray/brown - I think the color of the mantle and the trim at the top are my favorite part so I don't really want to change the color. I think my phone doesn't really give a true picture of colors.

Love all your ideas everyone. Was originally planning on branches in the vases so maybe I can try that out and put the pic somewhere else and see what I think! Right now, it's a blank canvas in our house, we haven't hung anything so lots of walls to choose from! Maybe I will post some pictures of those as well. :)

I think verdi green and pewter accents and tools would look great. Saw this one...
