That landing doesn’t seem to be code. The landing should be reframed up one step then there would be two steps protruding into the room.

No. The third step needs to be made the lower landing and you need two steps before the turn, just like Hallett says.

Make the step the same width as your poorly designed landing.

It would be correct to widen the landing to the width of your existing step. But you'd have to raise it to get that width and make two steps down. That's why you can see the wider step would be preferred. You can see the problem. That's why you're asking. You don't want to see the answer.
