Protecting gas range from scratches

Hi
I have the cafe 36 gas range and there is a ledge of about 3 inches that is exposed and can get scratches easily. Any suggestions on how to protect this area from scratches?

1) Don't cook.

2) Learn to live with patina.

Nothing stays perfect forever, specially if it gets used daily by a family. Just like a new car, that first scratch/dent is the worst!

Cover with a clear or colored vinyl cover.

Should you decide to cover any portion of that front area, be sure to use something that can handle the temperature. Instead of vinyl, consider silicone as it has a much higher tolerance for temperatures. Be sure to investigate this before you place anything on there.

Scratches in stainless steel are fairly easy to remove inconspicuously.

Are you talking about the sides projecting past the lower cabinet? I am not sure why this area would scratch any more than any surface of the range?
