Yes I would prune it down a few nodes and apply cinnamon. It should sprout new shoots within about a month from just below the cut. Use a very sharp razor blade or pruner.

@bragu_DSM 5 I just now saw your comment. Thanks for asking. I ended up cutting it back. Twice. Not too much growth, though. I’m focusing on caudex training.

Cut until you see clean white-green tissue, let it dry for 5–7 days in shade, then plant in dry gritty soil. Don't water for at least a week after potting. Skip cinnamon—it's too drying. You've got a good chance.
