Are you doing custom cabinets that have these extended size sink bases? Most stock cabinets do not have them. These large sinks carry a lot of weight. You have to have a higher end semi custom or full custom line to work with them.

There are threads on here where it has been explained that you can stick a sink into a cabinet that is the same size (that is, 42" sink in 42" cabinet).

Your kitchen, but decide if you really need a huge sink or not. It can be rather overwhelming, particularly if it is a one-basin sink, and you lose counterspace (yes, I know about covers and cutting boards on workstation sinks--they aren't quite the same and can be annoying to store and have around). So, decide if you really need all those accessories and if you have a place to store them besides the sink.

I know the trend is fancy workstation sinks, but I'm not really a fan of the one that I have. I hate the grid on the bottom, and the drain is set on the right side of my sink. What happens is food particles collect on the left side and are harder to wash down to the right side of the sink to the drain because of the grid.

Ruvati has sinks that have a sloped bottom that seems to be a much greater slope than other competing brands. I haven't seen in person to confirm. I'd try to see the one you like in person first before committing.

Have you seen these size sinks in real life? I am sorry I am not answering your direct question, but I wanted to advise you that before you get this setup, you see this size sink in person. When I see them in the showroom, I find them so big, and then too much surface to clean. I have a 33" sink and it's plenty big.

We’re going with semi custom cabinets so we should be able to get a cabinet this large.

I didn’t know that the sink can go in a same size cabinet - much appreciated for the info & I’ll have to look at that further!

We’ll have to try to see the sink in person.. it seems hard to find in my area but could be worth it. I’m also worried that the sink will be too big, but I’ve had both 30” and 36” sinks and never felt they were too large. Because it’s a split sink, I’m hoping we won’t have the same food particle issue but will keep that in mind!

If you cannot find a sink that size to see in person, take a large cardboard shipping box, open it up, then cut it to the same size as the sink you are considering - both length and width. Put the cardboard cutout on the counter in your kitchen and see how it looks. Actually, it would be good to do that even if you can see the sink in person in a showroom. It's always very helpful to see dimensions on site.

Thanks for the tip! Since the sink is not really changing spots, I’ve already marked it off on the counter with tape! It’s not the same of having it fully blocked off so I will also try the cardboard idea!

Make sure to take note - that sink has a 27 " bowl size for the larger sink. Is that enough for you?

A 45" cabinet is fine and so is a 48. Your installer should put an extra support underneath the sink since there is potential to load it up!

Yes, the 27” on one side should be enough! What do you see it being too small for?

That sink will undermount in a 42" cabinet without any problems as long as the sink is strapped, not clipped or blocked, in place. Hercules Universal Sink Harness or a couple Sink Straps.

Sink manufacturers mistakenly believe you need room for fat plumber hands and screwdrivers to tighten clips. Strapped sinks do not need that room which is why a 42" sink undermounts into a 42" cabinet, a 36" into a 36" cabinet, etc.

I've never had a customer complain of a too-large sink and I've installed hundreds. Workstation sinks actually add counter space.
