I could really use some creative design help! This is part of a whole home remodel, and I’m stuck on how to design one wall in our basement playroom.

The wall is uneven; the left side of the brick wall runs straight into the fireplace (when it meets the fireplace, it bumps in the width of a brick or so…see purple line and arrow). Whereas the right side has a “bump out”, almost like a column (see yellow line and arrows). The reason is because the left brick is thicker due to being completely underground and the right is partially underground. This can’t be changed as it’s structural. But it’s throwing everything off balance for me!

I really want to cover the brick to the left and right of the windows. Originally I thought with sheetrock, but I would be open to shiplap (it fits with the style of our home and in this case wouldn’t be chosen because it was trendy 😊 )

I don’t know how to design it so that it will properly frame the fireplace since the left and right don’t “bump out” evenly.

The insert has been removed and is being replaced with gas logs.
