Kitchen Hardware Color

I could use some help. Kitchen is coming together on our new home build. I planned to do polished nickel hardware, husband likes oil rubbed bronze or black. Cabinets are white, island is stained. I’ve included a photo of our countertops which are a light grey. Stained beams will be on the ceiling. Any insight is appreciated. TIA!

Beautiful counters! I agree with you and herb on using polished nickel. If needed to keep hubby happy, I like herb’s advice to try black on island only.

I agree--black would cheapen your look and be too busy. You're going to have a beautiful kitchen! Are you doing lights over the island?

Polished nickel for sure. Black looks out of place unless you have a good dose of black in your finish scheme - which you do not.

Thank you all so so much! Here’s the style my husband selected. It’s pretty sleek. I really appreciate you all taking the time to comment.

    Here’s the collection.

Search through Houzz kitchen photos for something similar to your kitchen with black or bronze handles to get the full effect. I find it almost dizzying, and distracting from the beautiful cabinetry. I like low contrast between hardware and cabinet so I like polished nickel. Perhaps black nickel on the island? Or black and polished nickel, depending on your style? Besides, I think black hardware is on its way out. (What do I know, I'm not a pro.)

That hardware is very nice and might be the perfect compromise--your color and his style. For what it's worth, that's what our interior designer selected for our remodel. We just used brass.

@Stiley- do you have a photo of your remodel you’re willing to share?

Yes, here are two spot where we used the hardware you’re looking at.

I don’t think it’s the right hardware choice, personally.
It seems more appropriate in a home office or a bathroom to me.
I don’t think you need to compromise, there are soooo many hardware styles out there. Find one you both love…

What do you think of this?

    In a kitchen.

Appreciate your feedback. We did make the purchase already.

Would love to see the results. I am having the same counters installed Tuesday or Wednesday. I have white traditional cabinets with traditional White Island. I have black handles and knobs and faucets. When I saw yours, I thought bronze immediately. I do not have pendant lights so I don’t need to match lighting in my kitchen. Yours will be beautiful. Mine will be better. I’m good with that right now. 🙂

Hi- looking for a little more help. Countertops went in. Thinking about doing brass hardware on island to tie back to island feet vs PN. The rest of the hardware on perimeter has been purchased and is PN. I’ve included a photo of the perimeter drawer pull in PN and the brass alternative.

    1. Any feedback with mixing the two metals?
    2. Any alternative drawer pull recommendations for island that would look good with perimeter pulls?

    TIA!

Do you not care for the contrast of the PN with the dark wood? I think the brass will be at least as outspoken. You could investigate black nickel, I like the concept but have not seen it in person.

I'm also doing a two toned kitchen and considered different color pulls, but decided that if the cabinets were going to be different that the pulls needed to be uniform to tie it together. Others may disagree.

It’s looking so good! Those countertops are gorgeous. For the hardware, I think I’d keep it all the PN, even with the brass feet. You could do the knobs on the island vs the pulls if you want something different. Will you have any lighting? What is your faucet? Can you add a touch of brass anywhere else?

trying to juddge the width of those drawers..the right stack is 42 in wide? the left stack a little narrower. ? ....hard to judge . For such wide drawers Id get a more streamlined look I think. You want wide pulls rather than two pulls because ...youll approach the drawers from different angles as you come around or pivot from the perimeter and a 2nd person skooches one way or the other so you can open it. Black and long for your large drawers........do you have doors on the stool side??

Appreciate everyone’s feedback. All 6 of the large island drawers are 34” width. We are doing the Kohler purist faucet x2. We originally were going to do PN for faucet but it does come in gold and brass.

Yes we will have two pendants over island.

Our island has cabinets on the other 3 sides.

they do make the knurled pulls in both metal tones

rergy on amazon has these. (all diff combos)

But I'd do the warm brass on that gorgeous island, and everywhere else. looks so good w/your floors too

BTW, if you look up knurled cabinet pulls on AliExpress, you'll be amazed at the prices and how much you save.

the ones on amazon aren't bad though. they come in packs of 10

Thank you! I really love how the colors came together in the kitchen. So many times I had to remind myself to trust the process. :) We already purchased everything already for perimeter and install will happen soon. We could do everything PN then do faucets the warm brass. But otherwise we could just do island unique while the rest is PN.

And then I’ll have to decide on light fixtures …. Haha… so many decisions!

Are those countertops Bianca superior?? I’ve been looking at that slab for my kitchen!! Looks beautiful. Do you like it? Do you have another picture by any chance of it installed???

It’s not but it sure looks close. Ours is Le Blanc and I’m in love.

Thé kitchen is gorgeous. The textured pulls are pretty and would hide drips and fingerprints but I wonder how difficult they are to clean. I have no idea….

I like the hardware you picked. Does it come in a longer length for the very wide drawers? If not, use two, but one long one is easier when opening anything very wide. 8” ones are great in the center of longer drawers.

If you want another color hardware for the island, I would go darker (like ORB). Does your handle come in that finish?

I prefer your handle to Beth’s suggestion only because anything that has metal going past the posts is a clothing catcher.

    Here are my wide drawers.

I'm no pro, but I vote against the black hardware, unless you're planning on having other black decor elements in the room.

If you do all PN hardware, you could have brass in you light fixtures. And I think a kitchen lamp is so cozy and could be another bit of brass. Notice that they used two knobs on some long drawers (others have one pull); Jean Stoffer designed this kitchen. However, I find two knobs to be annoying because you need two hands to open.
