TOTALLY agree the current fixture has to go!! Those barrel fixtures are just not attractive. Then they added that horrid graphic that has been EVERYWHERE for 10 years. uggg. How large of a hall is this? You need to be careful with hanging fixtures they do better in taller spaces than shorter where there isn't a table underneath. LOVE #2.

Thanks for your input. A friend of mine gave me number #1 even though I like the second one better… wondering if I could make it work? My hallway is regular 8 foot ceiling and probably about 14 feet long and approx 3 feet wide

Neither of the 2 lights you show give a farmhouse vibe - that bare bulb look is either very modern or very industrial. The first one looks like a hanging light too which wouldn’t be great for 9’ ceiling. There are lights that are semi flush & that looks like what the current light is. Are you looking for farmhouse style? Is there just one light in the 14’ long hall & if yes, is it centered or at an end?

I do prefer the modern farmhouse style.. most of my house is that.. with wood beams and rustic wood ship lap…. So probably a different light would be better?
Yes, only inexpensive light and it at the end since in the middle of the ceiling is the stairs for the attic. Any suggestions??

No suggestions for specific light - way too many. I searched Lamps Plus for ideas - narrowed search to Farmhouse & close to ceiling - over 300! To choose a new light I’d consider several things - hardware color on hallway doors - looks like yours is dark / ORB. Looks like dark flooring too - a black or ORB finish would be nice. Any other lights that can be seen at same time as this hallway light? Coordinate the style & finish. Light output - is this a dark spot needing high lighting? Get a light with multiple bulbs & higher wattage - look for LED & daylight color for best light.

Check out the website: Schoolhouse.com. The lights are all made in America. I replaced all my lighting from Schoolhouse.com. You pick out the lighting mount and what glass shade you want. There is quite a large selection! My electrician was very impressed how well they are made. Their glass shades are individually hand-blown in antique cast-iron molds using traditional methods over 150 years old. Best of luck on your journey!
