Can you perhaps do an all skylight ceiling and remove all the doors?

I would keep all those doors. Replace them one set at a time, if you need to.

I will bet the ranch you will shrink the courtyard or eliminate unless no other green space, so I'd not change any slider that didn't scream failure.

Assuming you will not love that kitchen : (

@Paul F. Do you have any pictures of a similar conversion?

My friends neighborhood in Malibu has a number of mid century modern homes where the neighbors have filled in their interior courtyards and I absolutely love that it opens up the house and you can pass through that area instead of having to go around it. I have no pictures of those but there are plenty of spaces like this where clearly they filled in at Courtyard.

By the way, that square footage will be add to your house when you do the conversion with permits, making your home more valuable.

The OP has asked only for advice about doors to the courtyard, NOT a full-scale renovation which assigns new uses to the different spaces. She has also said that all four sides currently have doors, but the plan shows only three. Assuming the plan is correct, I would keep the doors from the living and family rooms and install floor-to-ceiling glass at the dining room.

Repair the doors. Likely the bottom rolling mechanisms and less likely the bottom track could be damaged. The track is more difficult. The rollers are diy.

The " I am moving to" implies she hasn't yet unpacked a dish towel in the closed off kitchen which is also quite small: )

I'm for living in any new to you space for a while.....and that includes living with doors and windows. .....for a while.
