As for tall, 3 ft smothered in large full blooms, 'Garland Orange' is awesome, flowers early and throughout the entire summer, problem now is sourcing the seeds. 'Garuda Deep Gold' I first grew three years ago, these are long day sensitive and had flowered late and very sparce, the next year I sowed them a month earlier and that made all the difference, they flowered to beat the band upon tall strong plants. 'Parks Whopper', this is a bit of an oddity in that there's such a wide range of stated heights folks claim these have grown for them, I was hoping for a larger stature, mine only get about 1 ft tall, nice quality blooms and will grow again at the front of the border. 'Big Top' produces a congested mass of blooms.

Where did you get the seeds of the Garuda Deep Gold?

Good to know about the Whoppers -- I'll stay away from those, I definitely want tallish plants.

'Garuda Deep Gold' is my current favorite of the tall growing types, only replacing 'Garland Orange' because I could no longer obtain seed. 'Garuda' I had purchased here in Canada, should not be too hard to find in the US, at least I hope! One thing though is to plant in full sun and not overly rich moist soil, otherwise 'Garuda' will grow to massive proportions and plants will lose density. Oh, I should have stated the plants in the above photo are 4 ft tall.

Rosa, ahhh, those single flowered varieties and strains, the short compact 'Disco' series and taller ones I've grown, have enjoyed them all if growth hasn't been too rangy. Their seeding out about the place is welcome as well.

Ooh, I found some "Coco" gold seeds at Hazzards. I'm going to try those, since I have some other things in my basket anyway.

Have grown and love 'Burning Embers', but they're single, not globular flowers. A sort of hardy, African type on steroids.
