High entertainment centers

Been trying to replace an older Ikea entertainment center and most I find with online retailers, seem way too high. The optimal viewing height for a TV is when the center is at your eye level. For most TVs that would be about 40” to the center of the TV, from the floor. So your entertainment center would be about 25” high, depending on the height of the TV. But you see a ton of entertainment centers advertised with TV hanging almost half way up the wall. Do they expect people to watch TV standing up? Are people sitting on really high sofas? Or, do most people end up watching TV at an uncomfortable angle? Added a poll to see how people mount their TVs

is has to do with size of room, size of tv, distance from tv.

the 40" one you're talking about is probably something like this:

A 65-70" tv is going to look off mounted at 42" to center. I have mine at about 5'

best viewing level is about 60" from floor to the middle of the tv.

This is about right. (could be a tad lower and this tv is just a tad too large for this wall. proportion is important)

you can do a full built in like shown above, or,

get a vintage piece and do this

or you can look on Wayfair and get and entertainment center like this:

or a console

or even a diff Ikea Hack like these next two photos
