First off, I apologize for the horrendous "ClipArt" picture that I had to use. The text button would not work, so I had to draw in the wording.

I am looking for some help to design, furnish, lay out, etc my living room. It's a fairly irregular shape and I just don't know how to go about planning for it. I have uploaded the measurement picture of the living room and later today, I will upload pictures of the actual room. I am hoping to keep this a lower budget room, but I'm willing to purchase quality furniture. I would like the room to have a modern look and feel, but I'm not against any style.

As the picture shows, my television is centered (based off the main floor measurements) on the back wall. I did not count the drop pit as the width of the wall. The pit area (8' x 9'1") is 1 foot lower than the rest of the living room, with a fireplace centered against the corner wall. The stairwell is open all around the room and makes the design planning difficult for me.

I will try to post actual pictures of the room as soon as possible, because I know it's hard to design without actually seeing the room.
