Finally started some of my old salvia seeds. Here's what I am trying in case anyone is watching this thread or in case future me is trying to remember what I did that did or did not work. : )

I soaked the seeds in one part peroxide and two parts water for only 5 or 10 minutes then I put them on a moist paper towel in an inflated freezer bag to germinate. The paper towel was moistened with a much lower concentration of peroxide. (1 1/2 teaspoons of peroxide in a cup of water). I have them on a heat mat with a small grow light over it.

It was interesting that some of the salvia seeds had already formed that gelatinous coating in the first five minutes of soaking in the higher concentration of peroxide. About half of them did that. The others I let soak a little longer up to 10 minutes. There were a few more that formed a gelatinous coating by 10 minutes.

I'm trying salvia 'Yvonne's Giant', salvia darcyii and salvia greggii all from 2006 and 2007.

I think every link I find has a different peroxide ratio so I just had to guess at it.
