Could you show examples of what you mean?

@SusanMurin - I will try and take a photo tomorrow though I'm not sure that I can get the whole house and the front door in the same field of view given there is a gigantic spruce tree in front. I can visualize what you mean about removing the Tudor accent boards and choosing a modern door - that would look sharp! Unfortunately, it would be more of a project than we are up to as the stucco would need to be filled in and painted over and the Tudor boards are all over the house.

I'm also not sure what you mean by standard sidelite sash.

Hi @emmarene9 - my understanding of the difference between direct set sidelites and ones that are not direct set, is that the former is manufactured more like a window (bottom photo) vs a regular sidelite where there is more of a "frame" to the construction.

@emmarene9 here are a few ideas we are considering. We are leaning towards a stained fibreglass with sidelites that are all the same "stained" type of look (whether fibreglass or not). Mostly just trying to nail the design at this point, as well as, any feedback on potentially having the side lites as solid wood vs the same fibreglass as the door. I've attempted some imperfect "cut and paste" examples below. : ) We also have "6 panel" style coat closet doors on the opposite interior side so wondering how much design liberty there is in veering from that (my least favorite exterior door design is the 6 panel). Thanks!

Boards aside, I think your first mockup goes with the house the best (or something similarly "plain" in style). :) Will you be doing such a saturated wooden color? It doesn't seem to go with any other part of the exterior. Also, I can't really judge the sizes like this, are the doors+sidelites going to be wider than the current doors?

@plantsarefriends Thank you! Your mockups look much better than mine!!! To answer your questions... My mockups are just cut and paste doors we are considering for the style only. We would not be looking for anything deeply dark or saturated in color. We realize there is nothing else on the house itself that a "wood look" door would technicallly be tying into, we just both love the look of that type of door. Also the door+sidelites will definitely only be as wide as the current double door opening which is 5' 4 inches, so my crudely designed mockups are inflating the actual door dimensions. Sorry for the confusion!

It's all good! My comment was written in a hurry so I hope it didn't come across as rude, I was just wondering how to improve the mockups so you could vizualize it better. :) What color of wood were you thinking of?

@plantsarefriends No, it did not come across in any way other than helpful! : ) Not entirely sure what stain color, but something with a medium brown/warmer tone (the shingles have various tones of brown).
