Windows - Softlite vs Vytex

Does anybody have any experience with Softlite or Vytex? I'm sorting through quotes for a replacement sliding glass patio door and window, and down to two installers that use these products.

Both products have different lines within the brand. What exact products are you comparing. Other key factors are installation details, company reputation , history, the specifications of the window.

Both have very good reputations in there upper end models.

Good point. Basically comparing a Softlite Kingsroyal sliding door and Barrington double hung window vs Vytex Signature sliding door and Georgetown window. Price point is basically the same and the brochures for the respective products basically look the same but with different names. Not too worried about getting a high end window (it's just replacing a really old window in the garage) but I am looking for a good quality, reliable sliding door w/strong warranty.

You are comparing there lower lines. I would

recommend to step up to there 1st or second tier lines. The 3rd step such as these drop quite

    bit.

the 2 sliding doors are each very good. I prefer the kings royal by soft lite.

As for the windows, they are both quoting "budget lines". Soft lite and Vytex have higher end products that are definitely worth looking at. I would inquire about the higher end lines.

I agree with the advice above. The Kingsroyal is a nice door and the better choice here IMO, however the Vytex door looks solid as well. I'd strongly agree with the sentiments to bump up to each manufacturer's higher tiered window line as well. Even if its just a garage window, upgrading one window isn't going to break the bank, and the better engineered window will last longer whether its in the living room or the garage.

Lastly, a big +1 to Todd's commentary on the installation details, reputability of each dealer, etc. These products are probably close enough that your choice could be swung based on an advantage in those areas.
