I ended up just working with a design consultant at a local furniture store. It was a pleasant experience. They had plenty of choices and she was very good at narrowing down the options so it wasn't overwhelming. This photo is off quite a bit - looks denim-y blue but it's more of a blue-green/teal-ish herringbone pattern. Also ordered a leather ottoman and a rug. Much as I think the light-colored rug looks nice with everything else I really have reservations about this especially since it has a small % of viscose combined with a large % of wool (can't remember exact %). I always get dark, wool rugs because it's inevitable a cat will puke on every rug in the house rather than the wood or tile. I can usually get cat puke out of my beige carpet at home and this has variation in it, including brown, so I decided it could disguise a stain if I couldn't get it out completely. I also got the protection plan so they'll try to clean it and if they can't get it clean, they'll give me my money back to buy a new rug. So I guess that's a bit of a safety net to take a chance on it.

Cleaning protection plan, that is interesting. If you don’t like it, just host a Hawaaian Punch luau.

Your choices look fresh and pretty. It makes me happy to see just a touch of gray blended with colors. Waiting to see it in your space!

Well there’s actually no gray - all beige. Kind of like the teal looks blue I guess the beige looks gray. It won’t be available until after I go back to MN for the summer but I might fly down mid-summer to take delivery if I can also find a cabinet for the audiophile equipment. It would be nice to have everything in place when we come back in September.

I love blues and browns together and your fabrics look great. The herringbone texture lends a lot of interest and it really goes beautifully with the rug. You’ve done well!

It all came together, including the process with a store designer - much better than stressing and trying to see it all at Hickory. Life is too precious to stress about this stuff - your choices are beautiful and you are DONE!

Love your colors. My office needs an update and I especially like your carpet choice. But also the teal sample, the pattern....

I made the mistake of putting a television and mans chair in here so DH could watch TV and not be at the other end of the house if I was working evenings. Lots of his friends will dash in the back door to check sports scores when I wouldn't necessary have sports on behind me. And - the carpet in this room was white. Notice I said was. Desperately needs to be replaced, it's no longer coming clean and I really can't banish his friends.

I agree it would be lovely if you could arrange to have all in place when you return next Fall.

I love your choices.

And yes, in our last house, our dogs would spend 99% of their time on the kitchen tile, but when they needed to puke, they would stay on the tile but towards the step down to family room which was carpeted and let it go on the carpet.
