White Countertop Question

Hi,

I will eventually be replacing my kitchen counters. My first choice is white because I like the look of it and think it will brighten up the space, but I worry about how practical it is, and I would like them to be able to last at least 15-20 years without yellowing or staining.

My question is, does anyone have white counters that they’ve had a long time (10+ years) that look similar to how they were when you bought them, without permanent staining or discoloration? If so, what kind are they?

Search these forums for “white Corian.” Lots of people swear it’s the perfect white countertop material.

    Corian

I purchased white corian two years ago so cannot speak to longevity but am so impressed with how well it cleans. Before purchasing I did overnight stain test of coffee, tea, marker, pen pen, tomato sauce, lemon, red wine, and egg yolk and they all came up with just a bit of dishsoap and water.

I want to use a solid white countertop (plus, for shower curb + niche) - I’ve done A LOT of research (I tend to over analyze things) - white Corian is definitely the most recommended for a solid white that will last forever.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC - which color white is the one you refer to as the ”little black dress” of countertops?

That would be 50-year-old Glacier White Corian. It never goes out of style and outperforms many alternative surfaces.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC - does that come in different thicknesses? for example, if I use it to surround all sides of my shower niche (+ shelf), I’d rather it be thinner than typical countertop thickness.

OP - sorry - not trying to derail the purpose of your thread!

Thank you everyone for letting me know!I’m thinking between Corian and quartz. It sounds like Corian for sure can last many years and stay in its original condition!

I’m curious, has anyone had white quartz for 10+ years that has not acquired any staining or discoloration?

Corian comes in 1/4" thickness for vertical use. Countertops are always 1/2".

I have white quartz that is in great condition after a little less than 10 years. It‘s an MSI quartz - I can look up the name if you want it.

I have had white quartz for 9 years and it looks perfect.

That’s good to know too so there are different options. Yes if you are able to look up the name that would be great. I wasn’t sure about quartz but it’s good to know there are some that have lasted a long time too without stains! That is a very pretty counter!

I have Quartzmaster Calacatta Royal quartz n my kitchen. I have MSI Cashmere Carrara quartz in my bathroom. Both are in great condition - no complaints!!

I have used Cambria White Cliff quartz in 2 master bathrooms. Not the same as a kitchen, but they are exposed to hair dye and any stains I forget to clean, come out with a spritz of Lysol w/bleach.

That’s good to know the stains can come out!
