paint the fireplace?

In 2009 we covered our family room brick fireplace with slate tiles. I’d like to refresh this look. We are painting the room Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige which is lighter than the current Benjamin Moore Quincy Tan.
Should we paint the entire fireplace including mantle, to match walls? A colorist suggested going darker for entire fireplace. That seems too heavy a look. Suggestions?
