Personally, I would use three sconces - one on each side of the two mirrors and one between them. I think that looks best + it provides the best lighting for using the actual mirror. Based upon research - the the lighting should be at around 60“ - 66” (adjusted based upon heights of people using bathroom).

Is your vanity built so that you’ll be able to center the mirrors over the sinks + have the mirrors and sconces spaced evenly on the walls? I am asking this Q because I’ve read quite a few posts where there’s been an issue discovered at install where things won’t line up correctly. The person then has to choose whether to offset the mirrors from the sinks - or figure out something else re: sconce placement - while the contractor is waiting = person being pressured to make a decision that he/she/they regret later.

Make sure that you draw it out on graph paper ahead of time!

dani_08, thank you very much. I’m including photos from each of the entrance doors. The toilet and tub are perpendicular behind the door that is partially open. As you can see (pardon the mess - our master bath is totally gutted so we’re having to use this one right now) the sinks are right up against each of the outside walls. We are replacing medicine cabinets with new ones because of lack of storage space. I have drawn the “new mirrors” on the old mirror. There is 24” between the mirrors. We are going to wallpaper the wall behind the two mirrors. I’ve included a photo of that, as well. Right now I’m thinking cylindrical vertical sconce between the mirrors??? Any advice would be appreciated!

I agree with @dani_m08 about sconces between the mirrors in your specific set up. Looks like you have enough overhead lighting. I think you’ll want the sconces on a separate switch so you can choose which lights to have on / off.

Hmm - didn’t realize that. So in that case I’d opt for above mirror lights - one sconce in middle isn’t going to provide the light needed for using a vanity mirror for the close up work we need! Get a 2 or 3 light piece mounted just above mirror. Be sure they provide bright enough light for make up, shaving, etc. And, they should be on a separate switch from the overhead lights. I have a similar set up. Overhead pot lights are on a separate switch
