We have recently bought a property in which there are two trees growing very close together.

One is chesnut tree and the other one is beech tree, I believe they could be 20-30 years old.

Since they are very close together, they both miss branches on one side (in between space), i.e. they look like they formed one shared crown.

Initially we wanted to keep the chesnut and cut down beech, but I wonder if that is a good idea. If we cut the beech tree, will chesnut tree eventually grow branches on the missing side? Will it be negativelly affected by cutting down the other one and roting of it's roots?
