Here’s the thing - you have to find out the actual size of the tiles vs. the nominal size.

It’s important in order to determine whether the two sizes will work together - as shown in your photo.

Example : Bedrosian Cloe tile has a 2.5 x 8 tile that works with their 5” tiles. The actual size for the 2.5 x 8 tile is 2.55 x 7.87. The actual size of the 5” tile is 5.19”.

These tiles are MODULAR TILES = made to fit together with their grout joints.

This allows the two different sizes to mixed together OR the rectangular tile to be installed in a basket weave pattern, for example. The actual size of the tiles allows for the grout lines to line up ( 3 of the tiles stacked horizontally + two very small grout lines = the length of one tile vertically).

As you can see - you can mix these two sizes up however you’d like.

They use a 3/32” grout line = 0.09. I think Bedrosian recommends a 3/16” grout line for Cloe - but many people on Houzz have installed them butted up to each other (due to their uneven sides) - probably is close to 3/32”.

2 rectangular tiles + grout line = 1 square tile = 2 x 2.55 + .09 = 5.19”

3 rectangular tiles stacked + 2 grout lines = 1 square tile + 1 rectangular tile + 1 grout line = 3 x 2.55 + .18 = 5.19 + 2.55 + .09 = 7.83”

2 square tiles + 1 rectangular tile + 2 grout lines = 1 square tile + 3 stacked rectangular tiles + 3 grout lines = 2 x 5.19 + 2.55 + .18 = 5.19 + 3 x 2.55 + .27 = 13.11”

Equipe manufactures Cloe tiles (and for other retailers). They have tiles that are available in various sizes - depending upon which collection (the Cloe tiles are the same as Equipe’s Artisan collection). You can look at the example photos - and do a search of the photo to find other retailers who sell the same tiles (example, Ivy Hill sells a couple different Equipe manufactured tiles - they are probably modular tiles also = will work mixing different sizes).
