End of season dahlias cut prior to a killing frost Oct. 2021.

Dahlias make fantastic bouquets! Mine are different colors from yours so I'll have to look for pics to post. In the meanwhile, I saw this cute little bouquet -- dated Oct 13 2017 which is definitely an end-of-season bouquet for me. Some of my favorites here, though I just realized this is all annuals and biennials! I even see some perilla tucked in there. lol!

Ah, some dahlias from Sep 9, 2018. I only grow dahlias because they were sent to me free due to a plant order that was totally screwed up! :)

Winter bouquet. (January) Hellebore, snowdrop, Lonicera fragrantissima, Geranium maderense leaves.

Early March. Hyacinths and hellebores.

I only really cut flowers in winter. My garden is so microscopic I can see everything in person or from the window the rest of the year.

Floral, those are beautiful! I've never seen hellebores in person, and I had no idea that snowdrops made good cut flowers! It's early spring here and I currently have crocus and snowdrops blooming, so I need to go cut some... :)

Here’s one from May 30, 2022 and it shows a little desperation. lol! I see daisies, buttercup, rhododendron, dames rocket (Hesperis), columbine, bearded iris, and bleeding heart. :)

This is from July 2018, memorable because I picked it for my friend's daughter's wedding... she liked it and brought it to her reception days later. As I was driving it over I had realized I left out the light blue delphinium, which was her wedding color so I went back to add that but it's not pictured..

lat62, that bouquet is gorgeous!!! but I don't recognize a few things. Can you please identify all of what's there because if it will grow at 62 degrees latitude, then it should grow here. :)

lat62, thank you! I didn't notice the astilbe and had no idea it was a good cut flower, nor the verbascum! and I didn't recognize the yarrow because I've never seen any that deep red. It's gorgeous. Most of all, I love that Thalictrum! I've never seen that before and would love it in my gardens. :)

And thank you, karin_mt! Can you believe that I've never seen sweetpeas in person?! I need to look for some seeds. And regarding the dahlias, once I learned that they are like zinnias and respond well to cutting, I never hesitate to cut the stems at whatever length I want. :) Your last little bouquet is darling! is that heuchera flower stems and some single feverfew? I love feverfew flowers, but they do stink. lol!

When you go shopping for sweetpea seeds make sure you get ones labelled for scent. It's fabulous. Sadly some big ruffly modern ones don't have much of it it.

Yes on the petite bouquet IDs. Feverfew is stinky but hey - the deer won't touch it.

Sweet peas take a few tries to get right and they don't like hot weather. But they are delightful and worth the effort, imo. As Floral points out, the ones with fragrance are dreamy. We have an annual Sweet Pea art festival that has almost nothing to do with sweet peas. But they do have a sweet pea flower competition that is hotly contested! Without that I probably would not have stuck with them after initial lackluster results.

I looked for seeds this morning and I found one sweet pea choice, with no mention of fragrance at all, so I didn’t buy them. I bought seeds for radishes, Roma tomatoes, and early straight-neck yellow squash to console myself. :)

Aw darn! What part of the country do you live in? I save seeds from my sweet peas so I have some extras to share if you want to give them a try.

@karin_mt, thank you, that is very sweet of you to offer, but I truly have plenty to plant this year already. Especially with the 3 new seed packets I just bought. I keep wanting to cut back on plantings, but looking at seed packets is always dangerous. :)

Haha, yeah I hear you on that! Seed packets are just bursting with potential aren't they?

I get into trouble looking at pots. If I buy a new pot then I need some seeds or plants, and then if there are leftover seeds/plants I might want yet another pot... and the virtuous cycle continues. I love it.

If you ever change your mind on sweet peas, just let me know! I have lots and I imagine I always will in future years.
