Sharon, tutor me, please. How does not making the quilting too dense make it warmer?

I was going to tell you what a novice I was, but just added up my quilts and actually, I've made 17 quilts. So, maybe I have to give up the novice idea.

But, I still feel like a novice. I'm just still full of mistakes. I'm currently making a string quilt. I love how it's going to look. I may keep this one. I'm having to redo the sashing and cornerstones, as I didn't think about how squaring up/trimming on the sashing side wouldn't fit when it goes together. Duh...
