Worthwhile Homeworthy tour

last year
last modified: last year

Nice home. I particularly liked the range niche in the kitchen and what she did with the tile and nailhead surround.

The MBA is also swoonworthy. I would not have expected this in Allentown (years and years ago I had a great aunt there, and while it has some charming old homes, I think it has gone thru very difficult times). All the better for bargain hunting I suppose!

The K footage starts 30 min.s in.

A time line in the video description would really improve the watchability of Homeworthy videos. The integrated sink in the kitchen is an interesting concept. She has some beautiful hardware throughout that house.

You can also look for the most watched sections, I just watch them at 2x w captions and no sound.

If I recall correctly she said she gets a lot of questions about the integrated sink, which I thought was odd because I feel like that look has been around a long time. It was the range niche I thought was really special. Not quite sure you do that though w/o messing up the grout?

    Good idea!

I wonder if the nail heads are just the heads, pressed into the grout. No nail part. Why are the pans so far from the range? I guess it keeps her slender, as does the refrigerator and coffee in the next room: lots of steps.

I’m not sure I’d like the no-toekick, and the countertop overhang isn’t much, either. But the kitchen sure is pretty.

    Maybe, that makes sense!

I don't really think it's an issue; the total distance is not more than in most large kitchens, it's just split up. My K is Maine is now split in three, and in CT the freezer drawers and pantry are three feet away from the K, across a hallway.

    I’m not sure I’d like the no-toekick,

Yeah, that is not a good idea! It's there for a reason. Very annoying when you don't have it.

I think it's the execution of the sink that makes it different.

ok, what did I miss about it? I know I have seen integrated sinks in several materials.

Thanks, mtn, that was delightful. Beautiful home, and I really like her style.

Particularly swooning over the diamond paned windows and little bathroom corner sink.

I was surprised to hear “Trading Spaces” was an influence on her when she was younger. :D

Frequently in natural stone the sink is fabricated as an undermount, so there will be a seam at the top of the sink corresponding with the thickness of the countertop.

This appears to be a beveled joint and the vein alignment is pretty nice. You can only get close to a match with One surface of the sink made from the sink cutout at most, the other sides of the sink have to be made from other pieces. Sometimes you can't make any of the 5 sides of the sink from the cutout of the top because you lose some dimension of material, and the sides of the sink can't be smaller than the cutout.

Maybe I have missed the details. But the first time I saw marble counters with integrated sinks, I notice they continued the vein pattern, which I thought was kind of the point. I probably didn't notice some of the other details. In any event. I like it in Corian but I not in marble or granite, perhaps because I consider those too to be a just awful choice for sink material.

Many of them are done like this, they are actually undermount with decent vein matching rather than looking seamless, like they are carved out of the countertop as a block.

I would end up sending my fine china and crystal out to be cleaned, LOL
