Hello Kate, It is hard to see the room. May we have more pictures of the room as well as measurements, especially of the wall with the fireplace, built-ins and TV on it.

Do you like the stone around the fireplace? You could continue with the that stone (or do the whole fireplace and wall with a different Lighter stone) and make it a feature wall with open shelves to place art and decorative pieces. That would tie it all together. Either way the color of the wall needs to be changed. Perhaps a beige or a color in the stone.

Let's address the applied stone fireplace first because it is the elephant in the living room. The stone should go to the ceiling and the mantel lowered above the firebox. Then all the "not real" looks real.

Do not try to make this wall a feature wall using a different paint color.

The furniture pieces are not built in, nor do they align.

Consider this design. Leave the cabinet to the left, but remove the console to the right, wall hang the t v on the wall; use shelving to balance the cabinet. Notice the eye level.

Replace the ceiling light with a simple recessed aimed toward the fireplace.

Comes in other colors

Yes to taking the stone or other material to the ceiling. Lower the mantel to the height of the cabinets. Add a Custom Fireplace Screen to hide the fake gas fireplace.
