Yes, it looks like Stellaria media - common Chickweed.

I use round up. I have the same issue. There's another similar weed I have that when you pull it out of the ground, seeds explode out of it.

Charles your seed exploding weed is most likely Cardamine hirsuta - Hairy Bittercress.

Yeah I have that exploding stuff also - most annoying. At least the chickweed doesn't fight back 😆

Agree no reason to use weed killer, but especially with the Cardamine hirsuta pull immediately since even tiny ones produce seed quickly.

if you use roundup or some such on them and get the timing wrong= too late, I am quite sure that they will set free some seeds "with their last breath" and the cycle will continue next season

IME it is very helpfull to mulch, if possible, and get them early, like, with a hoe, wenn they are young plants

in my veggie beds I got rid of almost all portulack and "red clover"= Oxalis by weeding early and mulching

Most important thing to know about chickweed is NEVER to put it in compost. It is capable of flowering and setting seed even after being pulled out of the ground. And it's a prolific seeder.

Let’s not scare people away from composting all the things that may produce seeds that survive the process. Compost is usually applied in small areas where weeds can be easily dealt with.

It's not always easy to pull them out of the ground. Like when they grow under a rose bush.

Charles if you do not find a way to get them out be prepared for a lot more. Perhaps try a long handled hoe, 3 pronged fork whatever works for you. The roots come out easily.

They're a tender annual. The only way to prevent a lot more is to get rid them before they seed or put down a pre-emergent early next spring. Whether they're mechanically removed or poisoned doesn't matter once they've seeded. I pull most of them, but some of them are impossible to pull.
