I love & appreciate your video and your roses in the ground look just as good as your roses in the pots. Your Julia Child has the best deep yellow color (is that from Fish Emulsion?). Grand Dame is on my wish list, how's the scent and vigor compared to Gabriel Oak?

My Neil Diamond (own-root) was very wimpy .. so I always check for the vigor of any hybrid tea like Grand Dame before buying as own root. Thank you.

strawchicago, that is correct, as of now JC is nice, as they heat pick up it will lose that deep yellow, i'm fixing to replace grande dame lol, as a hybrid tea it's too droopy, not easy to use it as cut flowers, light scent and way more vigor than Gabriel Oak, my Neil Diamond got eaten by deers and rabbits so it's struggling to take off

Artist, for the roses in the ground i use nutricote 18 6 8 (though i think i under fertilize them this year), along with weekly fish spray, did have a little chicken manure around each bush too, our soil here is mostly clay so i amend them with cow manure compost

What a gorgeous way to welcome visitors to your house. Also impressive were the Iceberg hedge, Raold Dahl, Jubilee Celebration, the great color of Lady of Shalott, and the many rose companions you grow so well. A piece of Heaven ! what a beautiful rose garden . What a lot of buds on Princess Charlene De Monaco . I removed Lady in Red & Grand Dame from my yard , both were on Fortuniana and too vigorous & huge .

Thank you, Hoang, for the fertilizer information. The weekly fish spraying sounds like quite a bit of work. Do you mean foliar spray? I also wonder if you have someone spray them weekly, like you do with the spraying for disease control, or do you do this yourself?

Artist, that is correct, foliar spray, not only it feeds the roses, it discourages the deer from munching on them. the guy who sprays the disease also sprays the fish, it's a good thing he lives in the same house lol

Oh, for sure! It sounds like a lot of work to spray-feed weekly but it seems to do the trick!

Thank you Dave, i haven’t been pay much attention to over the edge that much, i guess im too focus on the other roses, i do like the look, the scent, and it last pretty good, the plant itself doesnt seem vigorous, it’s slow growing that’s why i put it down there
