Yes, I have three Bliss bushes. My only complaint, a very small one, is that the Bliss bloom when viewed in profile is flat, not high centered or cupped. Otherwise, I sing its praises. Such robustness and bold presence of the bush itself is ponderous.

Thank you Moses. Since you and the Rose geek seemed to really like her I also ordered 4 from home depot and I am so glad I did. I don’t mind the flat blooms even tho I do prefer chalice shaped ones like Earth Angel. Thank you for recommending Bliss I think she will be a favorite. Do you grow earth angel? Her blooms are gorgeous and the plant is healthy. I would recommend her grafted from palatine.

Yes, Dianela, I have Earth Angel, own root, about 7 yrs. old now. I planted her in a focal part at the front of my rose bed because her height was stated as 36". Ha! Even in my colder zone she gets 6+' tall. I wish I had moved her when the window of doing so when she was young was open. Now, it's too late to move her without causing a major shock to her. I just prune her hard in spring, and have many more basal canes, maybe as many as 8 that I believe try to keep her shorter than her potential, but still, by fall, her 6'+ height is rreached, and she throws the height progression of the bed out of order. I still like her lots. Balling up is experienced, but even balled up, the bloom is pretty.

Your Earth Angel is quite a show piece, really robust and the bloom you show above is so beautiful, very captivating. The reason we grow roses.

Thank you Moses I am very glad you like Earth Angel, I feel like mine doesn’t repeat as much as some others but I still love her. I am not sure what color range you allow in your bed but I will share with you pictures of vulcano when it blooms this year. She has been the nicest surprise in my garden before Bliss. She is very small for a kordes plant with minimum pruning and produces many high centered upright blooms and fast repeat. No scent I could detect last year.

Anything goes in my garden, no rhyme or reason other than 1.) winterhardiness with no protections, 2.) disease resistance, primarily black spot and powdery mildew, 3.) upright columnar growth rather than arching, spreading growth, because the bed is 8' deep and becomes impenetrable to walk into to attend the roses by summer's end, so narrow, columnar roses, spaced closely but not growing into each other too much is the style I like...a mass of blooms and color, 4.) large flowers rather than smaller ones, except for the short onesw in the front on the bed - Drifts, and mostly hybrid tea flower form, 5.) fragrance, but not as essential as it was in my years gone by, my nose doesn't work as good now a days! 😁

@dianela7analabama have you ever visited Gunther’s Feed Store? Someone in North Alabama just told me they bought both Lady Emma Hamilton and Poet’s Wife there! The LEH is especially impressive, I know many people who want one, but DA doesn’t want to sell it, nor will they let anyone else sell it.

Bent I I am not familiar with that store but my local garden center here also has Austin’s including Lady Emma Hamilton. She looked amazing this year and I almost got one. She is the only David Austin that has die twice here without explanation so I didn’t get it but it was tempting . I didnt know it was hard to get these days, maybe ill go back and grab one just in case.
