Finally!! Some blooms to post

last year
last modified: last year

My season actually began a couple of weeks ago but blooms were either hanging up or slug damaged so no photo ops there! These were the best this morning.

Heavenly Dark Matter-forgive the background cardboard-this bed is getting new mulch

Wonder Of It All-blooming for two weeks but best bloom today

Jeweled Smile-late afternoon pic-looks much prettier in the morning with a better color

Singing with Angels

Dark Raven-hopefully the green eye expands with future blooms

Blanket flowers are blooming well.

And on a sour note, the lopidea bugs are at it again. Two scapes in the background are totally divested of buds. This scape in front has one surviving bud. The yellow ones will drop. And the deer have returned. Whine completed.

On a happier note! My aurora view!!

The daylilies are all wonderful, but your photo of the Northern Lights steals the show! I didn't see them on Friday night when they were visible here, and last night I looked but didn't see anything. Jeweled Smile is an interesting one. I had to look it up since I was not familiar with that name. Is is a new one for you? I don't remember seeing it before. So sorry about those bugs. Are you spraying the buds with anything? I found deer scat in my yard last week. They're just waiting for the buffet to open. I was applying deer spray until dark last night.

Yes, Debra, Jeweled Smile is new this spring and in a pot. The bloom had a lovely color in the morning but faded in a warm day yesterday. I loved the Northern Lights here and got several neat photos. It was worth fighting the mosquitos!!

Now to the bugs! I do spray but with rain every other day it has become like my deer spray-not sure how effective it is-I missed the early necessary spray when they first emerged. As last year, I will have many clumps with no blooms. Look closely at this photo from today and you can see one on the right bloom probably piercing the bud underneath. Needless to say it was his last breath!

Lovely pic of Dark Raven. Love the green throated daylilies. Too bad about the bugs and I feel your pain with the deer. I have to get out and spray here since we've had a lot of rain.I always enjoy havng blanket flowers in the garden. They last a long time.Fantastic pic of the aurora. Not sure how my season will be this year. Plenty of heat followed by low temp swings. Lots of rain ths season.

I love the photo of the aurora borealis. I didn't think we would see it this far south so I didn't look. I guess I should have.

Sorry about the bugs and the deer. Riley, our dog, chases the deer off the property almost every night. They have been munching on the roses, but not the daylilies. The farm fields around up are planted and growing so they will munch on those. I haven't seen those nasty bugs in our garden.

Dark Raven is my pick of the daylilies today. I also like Heavenly Dark Matter.

Glad to see that you too have blooms. Another week and a half for me I think.

So nice to see blooms in your garden. I hope you get control of those nasty bugs……and the deer. We had yoo many clouds here to see those northern lights, what a bummer.

Your Pierces look good. I don't know how floriferous they are. I certainly hope we are not in store for a repeat of last year in terms of pests and low bud count. Foliage here is like corn stalks. That was a bad sign last year.
