Geranium Ground Cover

My neighbor is going to remove her

ground cover from her garden. She told me if I wanted any of it I could have it. My question is, how do I transplant from her garden to mine. Does it need to be rooted in water or can I just replant it. I have added a photo of the ground cover but unsure what kind it is? She said it is a geranium ground cover. I'm thinking of planting it around the base of my clematis. I appreciate your help. Thanks so much!

That appears to be Geranium robertianum, Herb Robert. It's an annual. Native here in Britain but generally considered a self seeding weed in gardens. It looks pretty when young but becomes a ratty sprawl later. Pretty smelly too. Won't work from cuttings. Unlikely to transplant well. Get seed if you decide you want it.

There's a similar species, G purpureum, but that is very much less wide spread in the US. The attributes are the same.
