are there more slabs avail.....for example in the slab shown..left to right across the top is a less busy / less veined area...if you have numerous slabs you can view and take your counter layout I would try to work w that material. The measurements, if provided. will assist in picking and choosing where to make the cuts.....I would do that. You dont want white on the perimeter? I wouldnt pick solid gray....work w the chosen material.

No I don't have much extra slabs because my island is 9.6ft x 4.5 ft. And Oh didn't realize I can't work with solid gray because of some inspirations I saw in Pinterest so I thought that would be okay. What do you mean white on the perimeter? Choose white instead of gray?

yes white on the perimeter as suggested by contractor. better than gray. there are many whites....have you looked and laid samples next to the slab? if you look at the cool whites you might find it an easy situation. compare it w a light gray. it really depends on the selection /your lighting etc/. dont reject white until you lay up samples. one thought....based on your inspiration is to look for a material they have more quantity so they can lay on island / perimeter and splash.... a nice cohesive look....I like the inspiration in that regard. . you picked a slab..they only have one piece. ???? are there other options?

We have an alabaster white like warm white because of the warm wood tone cabinet. Yes we have only 1 big piece , not sure about the total measurement of one slab..

Don't you think I should also look for a warm white quarts since my cabinet is a warm white?

Or too much white already . Our kitchen is a U so the other side of the kitchen is also white.

We have no windows in our kitchen

As to lights you mentioned , we will have 4" recessed lights, no pendant light over island.

We thought of the 4000k for brightness , dimmable.

dimmable is good....anything white will be a clean cool white at the full 4000k ..dimming will reduce the cool effect....warmer more comfortable lighting at certain times....a benefit. if you have enough of the material for all counters ..and insert a tile backsplash i think that is a good situation. If I wanted that counter I think I could work w that .

A tile backsplash, you meant quartz? We don’t want to deal with grout lines so we decided on quarts.

I like the idea of your white backsplash and bring in the island countertop to our kitchen countertop. So last question, can we bring in a cooler white quartz instead of same warm white cabinets we have? Thank you so much for your advice.

"tile" backsplash usually refers to ceramic/ porcelain/ or a newer thing.... glass. Your statement about avoiding grout lines...the thinner grout lines [you can choose] means less noticeable and less cleaning..... What specifically bothers you about grout lines ?? its not that horrible. There is the option of large format tiles which is a reduction in grout lines. as shown... In general..picking your slab to be installed as backsplash is a nice look....but I wouldnt reject the slab if you can only place it at counter areas.... tile for a backsplash is not to be feared. Is someone like a kitchen designer helping you with all this....you only mention the contractor.....I dont see the plan or the cabinets or the floor.....you mention the island as tho its not in the kitchen... if you put your plan on this site you can get some comments before you go forward and purchase more products. .

these are larger format tiles...thin grout lines....and fewer grout lines.
