need help with a small breakfast nook!!

I have this small breakfast nook in with my kitchen and the table currently there is too big for the area. I’ve thought about making it a sitting area then thought when would we ever sit there!?!?! I need some ideas for this area? Should I just get a small bistro set for this area? I have a formal dining room that already has table and chairs in it. I have 2 bars to seat 5 people in my kitchen. Please help!!

What do you need it for? A gateleg table might work if you need a table for meals and need more corridor room the rest of the time. If you need a single desk for homework space, try a dropleaf desk. If you have two kids needing desk space, you could probably fit two small dropleaf desks in that space.

You can often find this stuff in antique and vintage shops for quite reasonable prices.

Do you ever sit at the table? With 2 bars that seat 5 people in the same room, you may not need it at all.

Try removing the table and chairs for a week or so.

its a transition zone. appears the table is a landing. not sure about the chair use. I would reverse things and use the wall because there is an outlet. a coffee pot ? or other plug in?

the picture would be moved off the wall. baskets can go on the lower for kiddie things .

these are not wide and not deep....i dont know the dimensions of the space. vertical use is always helpful.

kids will sit about anywhere and be amazingly agile...if they have their things and you want a surface for them to draw?? write?? talk to them etc...you can perhaps find a small scale low table in front of a bench....again..if there is room overall....

Thanks for the advice!! We don’t really use that table so I don’t necessarily need a table and chairs to go there.

Here are some more pics. I don’t know exact measurements but I can tell you I have 12 foot ceilings in kitchen and breakfast area. The end table doesn’t belong there. I put it there when I thought I was going to make a sitting area but I’m just not sold on it being a seating area.

The table obstructs the walkway some and I don’t want to clear up the walk way. I plan on leaving the picture on the wall.

Sorry I meant I want to clear up the walk way.

that's a lot going on in that space.

So you really don't need a sitting area, correct?

Or, what if you did a built in bench (with a lift up top so you could store some of that stuff) and use your bistro table like this

    or a settee,

another option. no table. do a type of 'built in' bench, storage, cushions

The chairs are causing most of the problem, they're too big for the table and can't be tucked underneath. Remove all of them and try using the black chair at the counter to size what might fit. If it works, tuck just two small chairs underneath, cheat the table back toward the window so it's still mostly centered under the chandelier and open up your walkway. Whatever you decide, remember to consider the chandelier too, it will either need to swag, be removed or proportionate to whatever you place underneath it.

I’d remove everything from the space, except the dog bowls, and see what happens….. 😉

Too much stuff. Remove everything; if the kids want to hang there while you work in the kitchen, add one or two of something like these up against the wall.

If you need storage and counter space, there are loads of different options for islands.
