I am stil waiting to see them here. I expected it to be a huge influx, but haven't seen or heard many yet.

I saw the first one yesterday. Not looking forward to the influx. With the mosquitos and deer flies in full force I may need to invest in a hazmat suit!

Kate and Kay - I figured yours would have started earlier than the ones here. Many people in Nashville had them several days before I saw any. Some of my neighbors have shown pictures of the carcases four inches thick around their trees, and hundred and hundreds of cicadas covering the sides of their houses.

wow! I have a friend in Ohio who had an influx last year and the noise as well as the insects were very bothersome to her so I am not looking forward to them.

I havent seen any here yet. 50 miles west of Chicago I am not sure how much we will see. The close suburbs to the city and Chicago will see a lot. We do have cicadas during the summer every year and are pretty noisy. When I was a kid we lived close to the city and I was horrified at the site….couldnt walk on the sidewalk without stepping on them

I seen only a couple here, no really noise but I can tell there are a few around. Hope it does not get as bad as your area!

We always have some every year, but nothing like some of you describe. I've seen a couple so far this year...... The mosquitoes can be more of a problem for us here, but the city will spray for those usually. I've already been bitten a couple of times. We do have West Nile around here, so it is a bit worrisome when there's a heavy infestation..........Maryl

There's still a lot of frenzied flying today. I guess they are in a hurry to mate and die.

I haven't seen any here in our area of Shepherdstown WV but I havent been outside looking for them either. Today is my first day in over week to actually be going outside working in the garden. I do know that some people closer to the town area have seen the spotted lantern fly nymphs.

I just saw an article that said our area can expect 8 weeks of cicadas this year with the two broods. Yikes! In the past I've only noticed them for about two weeks.

The link you posted, Brad, just says page not found? I know there are different cicadas. They don't really bother me too much except years where they are really loud. But I am getting deaf, so that may not bother me so much.
